The principal duty of all employees is to assist in the mission of the Church in the Diocese of Fort Worth. General Position Summary:

Provide loving childcare during masses and parish events for children of all ages allowing families to fully participate in the many programs of our parish.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide a healthy, loving, and safe environment for all children.
  • Must be dependable and arrive at work 20-30 minutes before a session begins (unless otherwise noted).
  • Responsible for keeping the rooms, materials, and equipment neat and orderly.
  • Responsible for diapering children and assisting children with toilet use.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with parents, children, and staff.
  • Always remains courteous and respectful to parents, children, and staff.
  • Follows the discipline policy of the parish.
  • Responsible for all other duties and projects as necessary to maintain a developmentally appropriate and faithful environment.

  • Moderate supervision given and or received.

Internal Contacts:

  • Supervisor, other sitters, parish staff

External Contacts:

  • Parishioners and their children

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:

  • This position works in a typical early childhood environment. Bending, stooping, and minimal lifting and carrying of children may be necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Travel Requirements:

  • None required

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • Familial care of children, childcare, or babysitting experience

Knowledge and Skills Preferred:

  • Demonstrated ability to listen empathetically, make peace, and de-escalate
  • Demonstrated history of good judgement
  • Demonstrated aptitude for adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to receive, understand, retain, and complete verbal and written tasks.
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work well with people from a diverse variety of audiences

FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt, Occasional, generally less than 10 hours weekly, onsite.
