The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Parish Secretary for St. Bernard Catholic Church in Riverdale, MD

Full-time 30 hours week, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

This position pays $16.00 to $19.00 per hour

The Parish Secretary reports to and performs general secretarial support for the Pastor.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greets and meets visitors
• Manage telephone calls
• Prepares regular and bulk mailing
• Screen and distribute mail and other related material
• Manages office inventory of general supplies
• Maintains records for the office (e.g. directory, mailing list, events calendar, check requests, etc.)
• Manages parish database & office calendar
• Translate information for the community to be informed
• Coordinates and schedules volunteers in the office
• Manages parish website and social media outlets
• Oversees parish bulletin, create digital flyers for parish events
• Opens and closes the office

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to type 50+ wpm
• Effective team player with strong organizational & interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Publisher) required and knowledge of Parish Soft software a plus
• Bilingual Spanish and English preferred.

Requirements

• High School diploma required
• 3 to 5 years’ administrative experience required
• Must be a practicing Catholic
