Job Summary and Qualifications

• The Surgical Technologist Lead is responsible for assisting with the delivery of quality surgical care through planning and anticipating the surgeon/procedure needs and coordinating with the circulating perioperative nurse during surgical procedures. 
• Demonstrates competency in surgical technology to include all major surgical specialty areas; includes gathering and preparing sterile supplies, equipment, preparing/maintaining the sterile field and assisting the surgeon by supplying sterile instruments/supplies to the sterile field in a safe and efficient manner. 
• Performs routine scrub role as well specifically delegated department duties. 
• Consistently follows current AORN and regulatory standards and established policies and procedures of the System. 
• Provides a leadership role to support and guide other surgical technologist in promoting optimum patient care and team work within the surgical team; includes mentoring and assisting surgical technicians and surgical first assistants on a daily basis

What qualifications you will need:

1. Education:

1. High School graduate or GED equivalent required.

Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.

1. CERTIFIED: Must have and maintain ONE of the following:

• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist) OR
• TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Certified Surgical Technician (CST)

Methodist Hospital Landmark allows Methodist Healthcare to expand its surgery services into a rapidly growing area of San Antonio in the Northwest in a way that’s never been done before.

The facility will provide the most unique and personalized patient and physician healthcare experience in the region. With 54 beds,12 ORs,27 private patient rooms and eight VIP rooms with private nurse stations, Methodist Hospital | Landmark will deliver a true concierge experience. With convenience and access in mind, this hospital will offer a four-story parking garage, an on-site Starbucks, and beautiful aesthetics, creating a space that truly allows patients to heal faster.

Additionally, Methodist Surgery Center | Landmark will be opening in late 2020 as part of the campus to serve the growing outpatient surgery needs in the community. It will be part of a 72,000+ square foot Medical Office Building that will also house a South Texas Radiology Imaging Center (STRIC).
