Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Hotel Operations to lead all facets of hotel operations at a high-performing, full-service union property in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for ensuring excellence across Rooms Division, Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping, Banquets, Catering, Event Planning, Bars, Restaurants, Culinary, and all aspects of Food & Beverage. This position demands a strategic, hands-on leader with a proven ability to elevate service standards, drive financial results, and cultivate a culture of excellence, innovation, and care—for our guests, our client, and our team.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

Oversee day-to-day hotel operations across all departments.

Ensure alignment with brand standards, service expectations, and labor compliance.

Lead cross-functional collaboration between Rooms, F&B, Sales, and Events to deliver seamless guest experiences.

Financial, Revenue & Strategic Management

Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and full P&L accountability.

Lead hotel forecasting and rate strategy in collaboration with Sales and Revenue Management teams.

Analyze key financial indicators and implement strategies to maximize occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR.

Utilize Opera PMS, POS, and SFA/Amadeus to monitor business performance and inform decision-making.

Drive profitability through proactive cost control, labor optimization, and pricing initiatives.

Drive food and beverage strategy to maximize revenues, property exposure and the Flik hospitality passion for food.

Culture & Service Excellence

Foster a “Culture of Caring” for guests, clients, and team members.

Champion initiatives that elevate guest experiences, operational consistency, and employee engagement.

Lead by example with a visible presence and hands-on involvement in service delivery and coaching.

People & Team Leadership

Supervise and develop a team of 14+ department heads and supervisors.

Create and implement training programs focused on operational excellence and service innovation.

Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning.

Maintain positive union relations and ensure contract adherence.

Guest Experience

Serve as the property’s service ambassador, ensuring personalized, anticipatory guest experiences.

Lead service recovery and maintain high guest satisfaction scores and brand loyalty.

Build and maintain strong guest relationships, empowering teams to create meaningful interactions.

Client Experience

Serve as the property’s client ambassador along with the general manager, ensuring personalized, anticipatory client experiences.

Lead service recovery and maintain high client satisfaction scores and brand loyalty.

Lead hotel projects to ensure the best outcomes and financial results for the client.

Build and maintain strong guest relationships, empowering teams to create meaningful interactions.

Required Experience:

Minimum 7 years’ experience in full-service hotel operations.

Proven leadership across both Rooms Division and Food and Beverage disciplines.

Experience with revenue and rate strategy implementation and forecasting responsibilities.

Background in managing unionized labor within a complex hospitality environment.

Skills and Competencies:

Proficiency in Opera PMS, Amadeus/SFA, and POS systems.

Strong business and financial acumen with hands-on experience in forecasting and rate strategy.

Strong financial acumen.

Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring capabilities.

Creative, innovative thinker with a commitment to elevating operations and service.
