Part-time Copywriter: Baseball & Softball

20 hours per week

Are you ready to step up to the plate and knock it out of the park as our Copywriter? Whether you're crafting a home-run blog post or fielding social media captions, your words will help us win with our fans. As a Copywriter, you'll be at the heart of bringing brands like JustBats, JustGloves, and Turnstyle to life across all marketing channels. From crafting compelling email campaigns to scripting engaging videos, your words will inspire customer loyalty, attract new talent, create brand recognition, and drive revenue.


In this role, you'll collaborate with the marketing and merchandising teams, crafting narratives that connect with our diverse customer base while adapting our brand voice to various platforms. You're not afraid to volley ideas in a brainstorming session, and you love seeing projects through from the first pitch to the final play. You'll ensure our content—from social media posts to blog articles—is not only engaging and informative but also aligned with our mission to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Roles & Responsibilities :

Content Creation & Brand Voice

• Help us craft a brand voice that’s always in the strike zone and ensures our content connects with fans of all skill levels—from rookies to MVPs.
• Develop and maintain a consistent, engaging tone of voice for our family of brands (including JustBats, JustGloves, and Turnstyle brands), adapting to platform nuances while resonating with target audiences.
• Write clear, persuasive, and engaging copy for email, social media, blogs, videos, podcasts, website content, and more.
• Research trends in baseball and softball to create timely, relevant content that speaks directly to sports enthusiasts.
• Brainstorm and execute content ideas with cross-functional teams to maximize customer engagement, recruitment, and sales.

Email Marketing

• Swing for the fences with email subject lines that make customers click faster than a line drive to the outfield.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop email content calendars, ensuring alignment with promotional strategies and seasonal trends.
• Write email copy, including subject lines and CTAs, with an eye on A/B testing to optimize performance.
• Generate ideas for creative campaigns, such as Q&A sessions with product experts or “last-chance” promotions.

Social Media

• Post captions that aren’t just hits but grand slams, driving engagement and traffic across our platforms.
• Stay ahead of social media trends, sharing ideas for innovative content strategies inspired by competitors and influencers.
• Engage with audiences through thoughtful, on-brand responses to comments and feedback.
• Collaborate and assist in writing short-form video content (e.g., Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) that aligns with the brand’s tone and engages our audience across all platforms.

Website & SEO Content

• Write and optimize product descriptions, category pages, and promotional banners across all storefronts.
• Conduct regular site audits to ensure content accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
• Collaborate with merchandising teams to create compelling category copy and ensure the website is updated with seasonal changes and trends.

Blog & Video

• Draft blog posts that bring readers to the dugout, keeping them in the game while spotlighting key products and trends.
• Plan and write blog posts that establish JustBats and JustGloves as industry thought leaders.
• Script videos and podcast episodes, leading with charisma and storytelling expertise.

Collaboration & Strategy

• Partner with product teams to identify key themes and products for promotion.
• Collaborate with SEO agency to ensure projects are progressing and vendor relationships are in good standing.
• Provide input on promotional campaigns, pricing strategies, and seasonal content.
• Analyze content performance metrics (e.g., click-through rates, conversion rates, AOV) to guide future strategies.
• Help with special projects, as needed

Preferred Education and Experience :

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or equivalent experience
• Experience running social media platforms for a company or organization
• Experience as a writer
• Experience as a blogger
• Experience with Content Management Systems
• Experience with Marketing Automation Systems
• Experience with Social Media Management Systems
• 5+ years in a copywriting, journalism, or equivalent experience
• Experience with baseball or softball is preferred but not required

Work Environment :
Pro Athlete is currently operating under a very flexible hybrid or fully remote model where employees must work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and have the option of working on-site Tuesday through Thursday.
