Assistant Color and Print Designer

Fashion Retail

Contract through June 2025

$40.00 per hour

Manhattan, NY (Hybrid)

What you’ll be doing:

• Develop and style brand-appropriate color and print stories that align with seasonal concepts and fabric programs, supporting the brand vision and leadership goals from the initial concept to the final production handoff.
• Collaborate with the design team to create prints and unique raw materials that are suitable for the context of the garments and overall product assortment.
• Work with CAD to design print and raw material artwork for various products, categories, and collections. Consider layout, scale intent, printability, and technical limitations based on fabric and product types.
• Utilize NED Graphics to recolor print artwork and propose two or more color options for novelty raw materials.
• Create and maintain print presentation boards using Illustrator and InDesign, and effectively communicate and present color and print perspectives to design teams and cross-functional partners.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including Print Technologists and Raw Materials, to develop and execute print and novelty raw materials while adhering to technical limitations.
• Review print samples and two or more color novelty raw material strike-offs with Print Technologists and design teams, focusing on layout and execution.
• Create and maintain InDesign print charts throughout the print development process until adoption, and communicate changes to cross-functional teams, including print technology, sampling, raw materials, flex coordinators, and design.
• Utilize the design calendar to track color and print deliverables and key milestone meetings.

Who we’re looking for:

• A Bachelor's degree in Fashion or Textile Design, or equivalent experience
• 1 to 3 years of experience in Color and Print within a comparable retail environment
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Basic knowledge of Ned Graphics is a plus
• Exceptional color and print sensibility, with a keen eye for fashion and detail
• Knowledge of fabric printing, print techniques, and repeat layouts
• Experience with intimates is a plus!
