Some of what you'll be doing: The Port of Seattle Real Estate Asset Management (Real Estate) team oversees commercial, industrial, retail and hospitality properties located in Seattle as far north as Shilshole Bay Marina and as far south as Terminal 117. The Real Estate team is seeking a college intern to help the Port with a variety of projects. The types of projects include improving visibility of Port owned properties to external audiences; updating LoopNet leasing listings, leasing flyers, tenant contact info, and rent rolls; organizing the Real Estate team’s SharePoint sites; creating lease exhibits and other presentation materials; and providing support as needed for various maintenance, sustainability/environmental, or capital projects affecting Port properties. Your summer work will include supporting the Real Estate staff by conducting focused research, presenting findings, making recommendations, and reshaping procedures. Some of what you’ll be doing: Learning about Port properties, the Port’s lines of business, key policies and stakeholders. Familiarizing yourself with the Port’s leasing process and lease templates. Collaborating with Port staff on the development of public announcement as needed (new green lease language, capital projects, etc). Participating in Real Estate staff meetings and other meetings, presenting to the team as needed. Gaining exposure to Port-wide environmental initiatives, connecting their relationship to Port tenants, and understanding the different levers for influencing tenant behaviors. Assessing the existing Real Estate SharePoint sites, standardizing these sites, organizing information, updating contents and improving the overall functionality and user experience. Supporting the existing Renewable Natural Gas program’s impact on tenants by focusing on tenant communication initiatives such as creating an RNG info sheet, drafting electronic announcements, etc. Supporting the new Building Standards initiative as needed. Identify and summarize key elements relevant to tenant improvement projects and building management. Update the existing Building Rules and Regulations to reflect the new Building Standards. What else you need to know: Driver’s License – a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites. Work Schedule – This is a summer intern position expected to last for roughly three (3) months during the summer of 2024. Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting with the majority of time spent in-office. Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last three months and no longer than five months. Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
